Drums

When I was growing up, music was everywhere. Music would be playing in the halls of my childhood home, where my parents each built my influences subconsciously.

I knew I was going to play an instrument, I needed to. After having played on pots and pans dreaming of stadiums and huge crowds, I got my first drum kit at the age of 10. I spent years playing for hours every day, drumming became my world.

I found that my favourite genre to play was Funk music, and so I leaned into it, I got trained for several years honing my ability to play by feel, I never much bothered with sheet music. I found particular interest with “pocket playing”, keeping things tight with interesting off the wall type drum fills.

I loved the particular styles of Benny Greb and Neil Peart with their odd time signatures and intricate works through different genres.
